We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Risk Management Specialist to join our dynamic Major Equipment Procurement (MEP) team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and implementation of robust risk management strategies for our procurement operations. The MEP team is responsible for sourcing, contracting, and supplying bespoke, high-value, and high-complexity sub-systems, as well as acquiring cutting-edge technologies that enable world-class defence capabilities for our home nations and their allies. Effective risk management is essential to our success, and in this role, you will be at the forefront of embedding risk management into our supply chain processes, ensuring our procurement activities are resilient, efficient, and aligned with our strategic goals.

Join us and make a critical impact on our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain a robust procurement risk management framework and methodology, in line with company processes
  • Identify, assess, and prioritise potential risks throughout the procurement lifecycle at an enterprise, category, or supplier level
  • Analyse the macro environment using third-party risk platforms and media to identify emerging risks that have the potential to impact the supply chain
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including project procurement managers, strategic supplier relationship managers, the supply chain management team, and senior leadership
  • Produce internal briefing and communication materials on macro environment risks and how our procurement team could mitigate them
  • Support the development of risk mitigation strategies and oversee the implementation of mitigation actions by the project procurement manager community
  • Conduct regular risk audits, drive governance reviews internally, and lead supplier mass engagement activities
  • Support the supplier onboarding and risk assessment process
  • Manage and maintain the procurement risk register
  • Develop, drive, and nurture a strong risk management culture within the MEP UK function by delivering training and interactions that embed key principles and encourage open communication on risk management
  • Support and coach MEP Risk Champions within the function to develop their knowledge and skills in risk management
  • Support the wider national and international agenda on risk management, inputting into internal activities and collaborating with MBDA’s customers
  • Stay up-to-date on industry best practices in procurement risk management and incorporate these practices into our procurement risk management framework
  • Support the implementation, adoption, and training of tools and solutions related to risk management

What We’re Looking for From You:

  • Experience working in procurement roles with a strong focus on risk management
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing successful risk management strategies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while building and nurturing strong relationships with team members
  • Passionate about risk management with the ability to inspire and develop others through commitment and integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with risk management software systems (ideally ARM/Riskonnect)
  • Ideally, holding or working towards a qualification or certification related to procurement and/or risk management (e.g., CIPS, World Commerce & Contracting, IRM)

Security Clearance: Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to gain UK government security clearance. To achieve this, you must hold British or dual nationality.
