Position Available: Senior Subcontracts Manager
Location: Essex
Experience needed: We are looking for an experienced subcontract manager who has a depth of experience managing complex subcontracts within a highly regulated engineering industry such as defence, aerospace or space.
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Subcontracts Manager to lead the formation and administration of subcontracts, including reviewing, negotiating, and managing agreements. This role involves handling a wide range of procurements, from small consultancy engagements to large, complex technical contracts, preparing RFQs/RFPs, analysing subcontractor proposals, and developing negotiation strategies to award subcontracts. You will also maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with government regulations, including small business plans.
Additionally, you will oversee subcontractor performance, negotiate contract changes, and close out subcontracts according to company procedures. The role includes collaborating with supply chain planners, contributing to policy updates, supporting cost reduction initiatives, and utilising ERP systems for data tracking. Strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders are key to the role, along with participation in special projects as needed.
What we need from you:
- Experience in various types of subcontracts for complex items or R&D under federal government contracts, including cost-type and fixed price
- Knowledge of ECSS, FAR, DFARS, DCAA and other agency regulations
- Experience developing commercial terms and agreements in an engineering environment
- Experience supporting bid teams in interpretation and management of customer commercial terms, and flow down of terms
- Source to Pay (S2P) & Procure to Pay (P2P) knowledge
- Experience working in Space and Defence industries is advantageous
- Additional specific government contract management education or certifications a plus
