Senior Aerodynamicist

RoleAerodynamic performance is the largest differentiator in Formula 1. Senior Aerodynamicists are the backbone of the department and our future leaders, leveraging their blend of experience and capability, working together or leading small teams to deliver the aerodynamic objectives of their respective groups.ResponsibilitiesYou will help improve the aerodynamic performance our current and future race cars by:Working effectively as part of a teamLeading small groups of aerodynamicists to achieve car-area level aerodynamic objectivesAnalysing and understanding the results of wind tunnel (WT) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) testsEfficiently creating and iterating new geometric solutions to aerodynamic problems using computer aided design (CAD)Working across the design groups to ensure the aerodynamic intent is realisedIn conjunction with the Principal Aerodynamicist, oversee WT sessions to ensure they run smoothly and achieve their targetsImproving the aerodynamic development methodology and processesDeveloping, training, and empowering the junior members of the teamRequirementsTo be successful, you will need:An excellent engineering degree with a specialisation in aerodynamics or equivalentA thorough understanding of aerodynamics and the ability to apply that knowledgeA strong work ethic and the ability to remain calm under pressureSeveral years of recent experience at the forefront of Formula 1 aerodynamic developmentTo demonstrate and develop your technical leadershipTo mentor and develop less experienced aerodynamicistsA keen eye for detail and a high standard of qualityTo be a strong and engaged team player, able to operate independently and exercise sound judgement as part of an overall plan at times, and with regular interactions with your teammates at othersEmbark on a journey with Aston Martin Aramco® Formula One Team to reshape history at our brand new state-of-the-art, sustainable campus based in Northamptonshire.
