Senior Business Intelligence Developer

ROLE OVERVIEW We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior BI Developer to be a critical part of GRIDSERVE’s future success by enabling insights through data. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Lead, manage, and mentor the BI Team. Assist in other related duties as requested by GRIDSERVE Senior Management. BI Development and Implementation Develop, test, and implement data, reporting, and analytic solutions in Azure. Design, develop, and support mission-critical BI applications. Create advanced SQL queries, Stored Procedures, and Power Pivot models. Architect and document Power BI solutions integrated with Azure services. Insight Generation Collaborate with stakeholders to develop comprehensive Power BI models that enhance performance and achieve business objectives. Translate complex business logic into database design using Stored Procedures, User Defined Functions, Views, and T-SQL. Analyse complex data sets and transform them into actionable insights. Develop and optimise DAX functions in Power BI and Power Pivot. Automation and Optimisation Automate Power BI data refreshes using PowerShell scripts and Azure Automation. Optimise table performance through index analysis and enhancements. Cleanse data using Derived Columns, Lookups, and Conditional Split. Reporting Design and develop reports using Charts, Gauges, Tables, and Matrices. Create Parameterized, Dashboard, Linked, and Sub Reports. Develop drill-down and drill-through reports for multi-dimensional analysis. Best Practices Create Workspaces and Content Packs for business user access. Install, configure, and manage Enterprise and Personal Gateways in PowerBI Service. Stay updated on industry best practices and trends to improve processes and systems.Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes, including the anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System (compliant with ISO 9001 and 14001). Your unique skills and experiences are valuable to us. Required Skills and Experience Ability to lead and support the rest of the BI team. Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, identify issues and opportunities, and design pragmatic solutions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Power BI Expertise Extensive experience in Power BI report development e.g. Dashboard creation, data refresh automation, and managing gateways. Strong experience with DAX and creating complex Power BI models. SQL and Database Skills Proficiency as a SQL Developer, including advanced SQL queries involving multiple tables, query tuning, and optimization. Experience with database design, interrogation, and programming, including Stored Procedures, Views, and User Defined Functions. Azure and Data Services Strong experience with Azure data services, including developing U-SQL scripts for Azure Data Lake. Deep understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and best practices. Proven experience working with large data sets and optimizing data processing. Desirable Qualifications and Certifications Bachelor's degree in relevant field. BI certifications e.g. Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) or Microsoft Azure Power BI certification.
