Test Engineer Newcastle Upon Tyne  £340 a day Inside IR35 6 Months initial contract Due to the time scale of the project the ideal candidate will need to hold an active Security Clearance. We are looking for a Test Engineer to take ownership of testing the applications that form the core of our products and services. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the stability, robustness, and reliability of these applications by defining and executing a risk-based testing strategy. You will work collaboratively across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to ensure that technical solutions align with business needs. Key Responsibilities: - Testing Strategy:Define the scope and depth of testing using a risk-based approach to ensure comprehensive test coverage of business requirements. - Test Automation: Build, deliver, and maintain robust automated test frameworks and suites that ensure the reliability and stability of our applications. - Defect Management: Identify, track, and resolve defects, maintaining full traceability of tests, defects, and requirements. - Infrastructure Development: Design, build, and maintain an effective testing infrastructure to support comprehensive testing efforts. - Documentation: Create and maintain up-to-date documentation within the test automation codebase, ensuring transparency and knowledge sharing. - Tool Expertise: Stay informed about the latest technical test tools and apply them where they can provide the most benefit. - Best Practices: Regularly review and update the test suite codebase to reflect current best practices and reduce technical debt. - Reusable Libraries: Develop and maintain reusable libraries and services that enhance test efficiency and coverage. - Collaboration: Communicate with cross-functional teams, sharing technical knowledge, resources, and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement. - Reporting & Stakeholder Communication: Contribute to the creation of test approaches and reports, ensuring alignment with senior stakeholder expectations. - Service Quality: Ensure usability, accessibility, security, stability, and capacity are embedded into the development process to deliver high-quality services. Key Qualifications & Skills: - Strong knowledge of automated testing frameworks and the ability to create robust automation suites. - Proven experience with defect management and maintaining traceability between tests, defects, and business requirements. - Experience in building and maintaining test infrastructure to support continuous integration and delivery. - Up-to-date knowledge of the latest testing tools and techniques. - Ability to work collaboratively with development teams and share best practices to improve testing processes. - Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues that impact test activities
