You will dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble compressors, turbines, turbochargers, gearboxes, and other machinery, while operating both conventional and CNC machine shop equipment. Your role will include interpreting technical drawings, conducting quality checks, and supporting field service teams. As a workshop Machinist / Technician, we would expect you to: * Dismantle, inspect, repair and re-assemble compressors, turbines, turbochargers, gearboxes, and other rotating machinery and components. * Follow Elliott HSE policy and rules to maintain the high level of Health and Safety for everyone within the Elliott premises. * Interpretation of technical drawings and the ability to follow and complete jobs per engineering instructions. * Independently operate machine shop equipment including lathes, vertical borers, and surface grinders for both conventional and CNC. * Able to set up machine, with correct tooling, to undertake machining activity to desired quality. * Manufacture component parts to assist in assemble/disassemble rotating equipment in line with engineering instructions. * Ensure output is in full conformance to requirements of work instructions, procedures, quality standards and specifications. * Complete all records as required by the work instructions and procedures. * Steam clean and/or shot-blast equipment in preparation for commencement of work. * Return all tooling and lifting equipment to its correct storage place after use. Reports any defects, misuse or issue that would prevent safe use by others. * Undertake general workshop activities and follow Workshop Supervisor instructions with respect to housekeeping, workshop/work area cleaning and disposal of rubbish. * Perform necessary quality checks including concentricity, alignment, mechanical and electrical run-out, final and incremental dynamic balancing. * Inspect and assemble sub-contract machined components to final specification. * Ensure proper functioning of all machine tools and assets, carries out necessary maintenance and operates same. * Undertake suitable training for the safe operation of mobile equipment, including over-head cranes and fork lift trucks. * Support Field service personnel both at site and in the workshop, as required. * To be able to assemble/disassemble turbomachinery rotors and complete machine in line with manufacturers’ instructions. * Carry out impeller overspeed test. Fit blades on turbine rotors. * Perform low speed balance of rotors using all suitable machines available in Elliot shop. * Sharpen and maintain machine tooling Clean up any waste material and dispose of material in appropriate way. * Performs other tasks as required within the reasonable limitation of the individual. You will need: * Proven experience in a mechanical manufacturing/repair environment with – ideally – 3-5 years industry experience. Ideally an engineering qualification or evidence of a previous apprenticeship * To be able to interpret detailed instructions, engineering drawings and technical reports * Good engineering skills and experience in conventional machining (Turning, Boring and Drilling machines) * Effective communication skills Development Opportunities: * Working in a specialist (non-batch) service business * Learning new skills within a mechanical engineering environment Base Location Silchester, Reading, RG7 2PQ Salary starting from: £35,000+ (Depending on experience) The world turns to Ebara Elliott Energy.
